AOHT's first hybrid Project Percolator boasts 30 plus attendees

On Friday, September 9, 2022, the AOHT welcomed over 30 attendees to its first ever hybrid Project Percolator!

The Project Percolator is a meeting that the AOHT started almost two years ago! These meetings serve as an opportunity for leadership, AOHT members, and the community to learn about AOHT project work in a space that allows for discussion, idea-sharing, and feedback. At the meeting, attendees receive an update on ongoing projects, discover opportunities to foster alignment between projects and to mobilize resources, and learn of upcoming events and emerging opportunities.

Over the past two years, the Project Percolator has evolved to include new segments including Coffee Talk, where the team garners feedback and discussion on an array of hot topics, and the Spotlight Presentation, where internal and external partners share information on important projects.

The theme of our September meeting, which was moderated by Dr. Jodi Webber, Assistant Professor at Algoma University, was Social Equity. Our Spotlight presenters were:

  • Maggie McGoldrick, Social Equity Coordinator, District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board

  • Liliana Bressan, Manager of Effective Public Health Practice, Algoma Public Health

  • Brian Lawson, Transformation Consultant, Sault Area Hospital

In the spirit of fostering linkages, sharing resources, and collaboration amongst organizations in the community, each of our three presenters jointly gave presentations on what it means to be socially equitable, the initiatives their organizations have undergone and/or are undergoing, and what they have learned along the way. In the meeting, fruitful discussions were facilitated from the perspectives of each of their unique organizations.

The AOHT looks forward to continuing to bring together individuals and organizations to share knowledge and experiences, engage in open discussion, and foster alignment between initiatives. Our next Project Percolator meeting will take place on Friday, November 18th. Stay tuned for more details!
